Blackboard and MyBU Student
This is an overview of key areas where Blackboard and MyBU Student work together to support faculty processes. This includes operations related to creating and copying content for Blackboard sites, class enrollment, and grading.
Creating Blackboard Course Sites
Each term, faculty can use MyBU Student to choose which class sections they want to create Blackboard courses for.
- These course shells are NOT created automatically.
- Users will have the option to choose Original or Ultra course view for each of their classes.
- Once selected, courses will take approximately 6 hours to show up in Blackboard.

Copying Course Content
Once a course has been created in Blackboard, additional steps are required to copy the content from a previous term.
- This process will differ depending on which format of Blackboard has been selected for the course (Original or Ultra.)

Automatic Enrollment Updates
- Class roster info will start to load 120 days prior to start date for courses that have been set up in Blackboard.
- Enrollment will continue to be automatically updated through to the last day of the course.
- Students who drop or withdraw will be disabled from the Blackboard course, ensuring the gradebook shows enrolled students only.
Import Grades in Grade Roster
Once students’ total grades have been recorded in Blackboard Gradebook/Grade Center, go to the Grade Roster in MyBU Student and select the option to “Import Grades”.
- This will instantly populate the roster grades as they have been recorded in Blackboard.
- Note that the total grade in Blackboard must be set to Letter Grade (not a number value).
Grades can be edited in the Grade Roster after importing them, but note that any updates made in the Grade Roster will not be recorded back on Blackboard.
