Project Planning & Mentoring

“Should I stay, or should I go now? If I go, there will be trouble” —The Clash

Working with your research team and recruiting help from others in advance of a leave may help you worry less about “trouble” occurring in your absence. A detailed plan can help make both your transition to your leave as well as your return easier. Each member of your research group should have a research plan, including knowing whom to contact to deal with problems and be available to guide their research while you are on leave.

There are 3 phases to developing a leave plan for your research group:

  1. Preparing yourself and your team before your leave

  2. Managing your research during your leave

  3. Developing a plan for your return from leave

A great place to start is making a checklist!
