C-SCAPE
C-SCAPE starts from a simple but powerful observation: universities are producing scientific research that can change the world, but how scientific knowledge becomes trusted by people outside of universities is often predicated on how it’s created.
MISI’s C-SCAPE initiative explores the relationship between the production of scientific knowledge and its reception with the public. There is a spectrum of impactful research methods emerging from universities — from translational science that moves discoveries from the lab to the public, to participatory action research that puts communities at the center of inquiry. The challenge is to differentiate these methods and to understand with more precision how they function to build trust in scientific knowledge.
By supporting science translation efforts that make data and scientific insights available to the public, as well as research on the public impact motivations of scientists, C-SCAPE seeks to advance our understanding of how the production of scientific knowledge impacts its reception.

The Native Advertising Observatory, is a robust dataset of 2,500 native ads across nearly a dozen news outlets that will help advocates, journalists, and lawmakers to understand and represent the influence of native advertising on public perceptions of the fossil fuel industry.
