Ryan de Kock presented his summer research on non fullerene acceptors at the BU UROP Poster session, 2021. Ryan is continuing his work in the Jeffries-EL group in the fall, mentored by DeZhanae! Great job Ryan!

Congratulations Dr. David Wheeler!

By Shambhavi TannirJuly 13th, 2021

In another virtual defense, David successfully defended his dissertation titled “The Evolution of Linear and Cruciformic Benzobisoxazole Organic Semiconductors Designed for Organic Light-Emitting Diode Application”. Utilizing experimental data and aided by computational calculations, he has designed small molecule BBOs with EL ranging from near UV and deep blue to orange. More

Key findings in recent ACS Omega publication condensed using LiveSlides

By David WheelerAugust 27th, 2020

Our most recent publication titled "Evaluating the Role of Molecular Heredity in the Optical and Electronic Properties of Cross-Conjugated Benzo[1,2-d:4,5-d′]bisoxazoles (BBO)" takes a detailed look at the impact steric hindrance plays in cross-conjugated BBO systems. This study allows us to refine our chemical systems towards the development of highly efficient... More

Congratulations, Dr. Carmen Gott-Betts!

By David WheelerAugust 6th, 2020

In an unorthodox fashion, Carmen Gott-Betts successfully defended her Ph.D dissertation, virtually, titled: "Design of Next-Generation Organic Semiconductors and the Development of New Methods for their Synthesis". Her synthetic work focused on derivatives with a common aromatic core, benzodifuran, and their potential use as either active layer or hole transport... More

Sebastian Perez-Espina presents work at 22nd annual undergraduate research symposium

By David WheelerOctober 18th, 2019

This week, undergraduate student, Sebastian Perez-Espina, presented his work at the 22nd annual Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) symposium. His work in the Jeffries-EL group has involved investigating the synthesis of laddered benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b']difuran polymers for photovoltaic application.     We are proud of you, Sebastian! Glad to have you on our team.

Congratulations, Dr. Burney-Allen!

By David WheelerOctober 9th, 2019

The Jeffries-EL group celebrated with Dr. Burney-Allen obtaining his doctoral degree. His thesis defense titled "Towards development of benzobisoxazole and napthodifuran based organic semiconductors for organic solar cells" gave a in-depth review of the synthetic and material science based research Alfred conducted during the program. We're all proud of you, More
