Technical Assistance and Office Hours
About
BU-SHARP offers individualized and tailored technical assistance to grantees, affiliates, and external collaborators with AD/ADRD research projects relevant to BU-SHARP’s themes, drawing on the expertise of its MPIs, co-investigators, affiliates, and partners. BU-SHARP provides two main types of technical assistance: (a) methodological and data assistance and (b) research dissemination and translation assistance. Technical assistance is available via two mechanisms: (1) “Ask Anything” Virtual Office Hours with a dedicated BU-SHARP research analyst, the BU-SHARP Project Director, and/or one of the BU-SHARP MPIs and (2) the BU-SHARP Slack Community where BU-SHARP affiliates and selected external researchers can ask questions, share resources, and form connections to solve research challenges to advance their research.
Virtual Office Hours
“Ask Anything” Virtual Office Hours are held twice monthly with a dedicated BU-SHARP research analyst, the BU-SHARP Project Director, and/or one of the BU-SHARP MPIs. They are a useful space to discuss problems in your research, receive advice, and get connected to affiliates and collaborators within the BU-SHARP network. This opportunity is open to any AD/ADRD researcher or related stakeholder.
Some data and methodological topics for discussion at office hours include but are not limited to statistical analysis, methods and tools for data harmonization, linkage, evidence triangulation, machine learning, reproducible research, and data visualization.
As a center, our long-term goals are to facilitate collaborations that bring together researchers and affected populations to create multi-media projects about research topics, convene research forums to gather scientific and public health audiences, and build partnerships between researchers and community-based artists to create and disseminate accessible-format research products related to BU-SHARP themes.
Join us for our first Virtual Meet & Greet Office Hour on Thursday, September 10th from 3PM-4PM where you will be able to meet the core BU-SHARP team, learn what BU-SHARP is all about, and how you can connect with us!

Slack Community
BU-SHARP affiliates gain access to specialized Slack channels for sharing relevant literature and opportunities and having discussions about current topics related to methods, AD/ADRD, and other relevant areas. The Slack channel allows BU-SHARP affiliates, pilot grant recipients, and individuals affiliated with BU-SHARP partners to engage with members of the BU-SHARP leadership on a regular basis to discuss issues or questions that do not require a full email exchange or meeting. This aims to facilitate a culture of responsiveness and collaboration, especially for early-stage investigators who need this support to thrive in their research. Join the Slack Community.
