Institutional Review Board (IRB)/Human Subjects Research

The PI is responsible for the execution & management of the study, including time-sensitive oversight of all study personnel and any sub-awardees/subcontractors under their direction. If you anticipate that you will not be able fulfill these responsibilities during a planned leave you should contact the IRB and discuss these plans. 

• During your leave you may want to assign a Proxy PI
• When you return from your leave you should “Make Yourself Available for Sign-off“

Emergencies

In the case of an emergency and the PI is unavailable, department chairs should immediately contact the Director of the Office of Human Affairs to provide the PI’s name and the signoff proxy’s name.
