Postdoctoral Research Associate, University of Southern California

Samantha (Sam) Hall is an environmental epidemiologist currently working as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine Population and Public Health Sciences, where her research focuses on exposure to heat, wildfire smoke, and air pollution in relation to cardiometabolic outcomes across early life. Sam completed her PhD in environmental health at Boston University School of Public Health. Her dissertation focused on environmental exposures, especially heat stress and heavy metals, in relation to kidney function in at-risk youth. As the PI of an NIEHS F31, she also studied the urinary microbiome as associated with kidney function. Sam is particularly interested in applying highly dimensional statistical techniques to understand complex environmental exposures, microbiome status, and molecular processes related to disease development across the life course. She is dedicated to understanding pervasive and complex environmental exposures and translating this knowledge for policy impact.
