Lydia Jefferson (they/them) is a third-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Earth and Environment working in the Fulweiler lab. Their research focuses on the relationship between environmental justice and how microplastics impact the ecology and biogeochemical function of aquatic systems.

Lydia received their Bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a major in Environmental Sciences with an emphasis in Water, a minor in Religious Studies, and a Multiculturalism Certificate. Their research during undergrad focused on land use’s impacts on respiration rates in urban streams. In their free time, Lydia enjoys hanging out with friends, playing video games, and eating yummy food!
