Kathryn Atherton is a Bioinformatics PhD candidate and Urban Biogeoscience and Environmental Health Trainee in the Bhatnagar Lab at Boston University. She received her BS in Biological Engineering from Purdue University in 2019. Her research focuses on how the soil microbiome impacts the health of urban street trees. Following her PhD, she hopes to become a AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellow in the US State Department and develop policy related to urban forestry. Outside of the lab, Kathryn is a NYT crossword nerd, a die-hard Liverpool F.C. fan, and an avid charcuterie board creator and eater.
