Erica Mattison brings several years of experience in higher education sustainability, government, and environmental advocacy to her work as the first person to fill this role at BU.

After serving as a peer educator for the recycling program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and working in politics, Erica pursued a Masters in Public Administration at Suffolk University. Her advocacy as a student led to an opportunity to work as Suffolk’s first Recycling Coordinator and then Campus Sustainability Coordinator. Erica co-founded the Massachusetts Schools Sustainability Coordinators Roundtable to bring together peers and advance sustainability efforts.

After obtaining her Masters degree, she went on to pursue a Juris Doctor at Suffolk University Law School. Erica then served for four years as one of the state’s leading environmental protection lobbyists as the Legislative Director for the Environmental League of Massachusetts. She is passionate about fostering vibrant, healthy communities and is actively involved in efforts to promote sustainable transportation. She chairs the board MassBike, the statewide bicycling coalition, and serves on the board of her local Main Streets organization. Erica is a member of the Massachusetts Bar.
