Research Interests & Fieldwork

I study the changing socio-economic relationships between humans and animals in the Aegean, particularly during the end of the Neolithic period. I ask how choices related to herd management might structure the spatial and temporal dimensions of human social life. I aim to investigate this question using traditional zooarchaeological techniques as well as the analysis of stable isotopes such as strontium and oxygen. Currently, I am working on a pilot study in collaboration with Julia Giblin (Quinnipiac University), where I will be analyzing strontium signatures from ovicaprid molars from Alepotrypa Cave in Diros, Greece.
