Note from the Director on Giving Tuesday
November 30, 2021
Dear BU URBAN Community,
Welcome back! I hope you had a restful Thanksgiving break.
During this time of year, and especially on Giving Tuesday, it feels like a good time to reflect on what we’re thankful for and what nourishes us, as well as what we are doing for our part to nourish the things that we value.
I am very thankful and proud of the URBAN community, especially the impact our trainees are having through their interdisciplinary research and solutions-oriented partnerships. We recently produced three URBAN Trainee Spotlight videos in which Beth Haley, Claudia Diezmartínez, and Sean Mueller talk about their experience doing research that matters and being part of the URBAN community. Numerous trainees participated in the recent COP26 meeting and published a BU Today POV article about it. Last week, we organized a panel discussion about their experience and will share the recording soon. I appreciate all of the everyday research and partnerships happening over Zoom, in labs, and in the field that keep us inspired knowing that we are building the next generation of scientists and practitioners working on these urgent urban environmental challenges.
I am very excited for the upcoming URBAN events, including our Science, Policy, and Communication Workshop in January, the State of the City Viewing Party in February, and our Program trip to Washington DC in March.
This Giving Tuesday, please consider giving a gift to support BU URBAN so that we can continue having an impact as a program and community. A gift today is an investment in the future of our trainees and workforce and of solutions to urban environmental problems, and will be used to expand internship and training opportunities for our students and partners. Click here to give today, and thanks!
