MRS 2023 will be held on December 4 -5, 2023, in-person at Boston University in Boston, MA, USA.
The goal of the conference is to bring together researchers who are in the field of multi-robot systems (MRS) and multi-agent systems (MAS). Typically, MRS/MAS research is spread across a large conference, and this makes it difficult for us to keep up to date on new findings and meet others in the area. The intent of this conference is to bring those researchers together with a high-quality symposium to highlight the very best in the field. Previous iterations include MRS 2017 (Los Angeles, CA, USA), MRS 2019 (New Brunswick, NJ, USA), and MRS 2021 (Cambridge, UK).
The conference scope will include any research related to multi-robot and multi-agent systems, an inherently diverse community. Several competencies are needed in this field, ranging from control systems to mechanical design, coordination, cooperation, estimation, perception, and interaction. The fields of interest include the following general fields, but are not limited to:

The conference proceedings will be submitted to the IEEE Xplore® digital library (see the proceedings of the previous MRS 2021 here).
Initial Paper Submission Deadline: July 7, 2023, 23:59:59 Pacific Time. June 26, 2023, 23:59:59 Pacific Time. No further extensions will be considered. The deadline for video submissions is 6 days after the paper submission date, on July 13, 23:59:59 Pacific Time.

Paper Format
The page limit for each submission is 6 pages (US letter size) + references (6+n), following the IEEE two-column conference template. The entirety of the paper material, excluding references, must fit into 6 pages, i.e., text, figures, tables, acknowledgements, etc. There is no page limit for the bibliography or reference section. Papers exceeding the (6+n) page limit at the time of submission will be returned without review. Accepted submissions will be invited to be part of the oral presentations at the conference venue.
Submissions are single blind: names of the authors should appear in the first page of the paper. All papers must be in English and submitted in PDF format. Please see the following links for formatting guidelines and templates.

Video Submission
The deadline for a video submission is six (6) days after the paper submission deadline. We strongly encourage authors to submit a video clip to complement the submission. Detailed video submission guidelines for contributed paper submissions:
- File Size: 10 MB
- File extension check and correction: mpeg, mp4, mpg
- Maximum duration (in seconds): 180 sec
A video that was NOT originally submitted to a contributed paper will NOT be accepted at a later date in the final paper submission, after the peer-review of the paper is completed.
Multiple Submissions
Submissions that are identical (or substantially similar) to versions that have been previously published, or accepted for publication, or that have been submitted in parallel to other conferences are not appropriate for MRS and violate our dual submission policy.
Exceptions to this rule are the following:
- Submission is permitted for a short version of a paper that has been submitted to a journal, but has not yet been published in that journal. Authors must declare such dual-submissions either through the paper upload submission form, or via email to the Editor-in-Chief. It is the authors’ responsibility to make sure that the journal in question allows dual concurrent submissions to conferences.
- Submission is permitted for papers presented or to be presented at conferences or workshops without proceedings, or with only abstracts published.
- It is acceptable to submit to MRS work that has been made available as a technical report (or similar, e.g. in arXiv) without citing it.
None of the above should be construed as overriding the requirements of other publishing venues.
Extended Abstracts
A call for late-breaking results in the form of extended abstracts will open in September. We are not accepting extended abstract submissions at this time.
Plagiarism
MRS is intolerant of plagiarism. Submitted papers are expected to contain original work executed by the authors with adequate, or proper and scholarly citations to the work of others. It is the job of the authors to clearly identify both their own contribution(s) and also published results / techniques on which they depend or build. MRS reviewers are charged to ensure these standards are met. In cases of alleged plagiarism, the program chair will be guided by Section 8.2.4 Allegations of Misconduct, as laid out by the IEEE in this document.
