Cristina A. Brinkerhoff is a research assistant in the Women’s Health Unit working under the supervision of Dr. Christine Gunn and Dr. Nancy Kressin on the ACS Breast Density Notification project. Cristina is also a doctoral candidate at Boston University School of Social Work. Cristina worked at the Institute for Community Health as Research Associate. She also worked as an NIH Research Fellow at Boston University and UMass Boston on an exploratory study about the implication of transnationalism, culture and social networks for the health and behavior of Brazilian and Dominican immigrants. Cristina is currently a board member at the Brazilian Workers Center.

Cristina’s interests include immigrant motherhood stress, social networks, people of color and immigrants’ health disparities; health literacy, immigration policies and community based participatory research.

Cristina graduated from UMass Boston with a BA in Sociology in 2011 and an MA in Applied Sociology in 2014. She is fluent in Portuguese.
