An Introduction to Implementation Science

Implementation science is a relatively new field to researchers in health care, yet shares many commonalities with quality improvement and dissemination science. As Bauer states in the article An Introduction to Implementation Science for the Non-Specialist, implementation science is “the scientific study of methods to promote the systematic uptake of research findings and other Evidence Based Practices into routine practice, and, hence, to improve the quality and effectiveness of health services.” Through the use of both qualitative and quantitative methods, implementation science can help evaluate and improve an intervention.
