At home learning is hard, especially reading. The Florida Center for Reading Research has some helpful at-home guides and worksheets to help your student learn.

Haskins Laboratory Research
Haskins Laboratory Research partnered with Maryanne Wolf to compile a list of vetted, quality learning and reading resources to support learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kid Zone has free audiobooks, comic books, and books for all ages as well as online games to help your emerging reader learn letter names and sounds!

Reading Partners
A wide variety of resources for families of young readers including approachable infographics, informational videos, and the option to sign up for text messages that provide age-appropriate activities and resources.

The Institute of Education Sciences
The Institute of Education Sciences provides free how-to videos on their YouTube channel to support caregiver and child reading time! They also have a handy guide for reading with your Kinder-3rd grader.

DLD and Me has resources for parents, teachers, and individuals impacted by developmental language disorder (DLD), all of which are designed to raise awareness about DLD. A bilingual English and Spanish site with free language, speech, and reading resources, tools, and materials for educators and families of English language learners.

Local Museums and Libraries

Many museums and libraries have developed online or virtual resources for families due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Contact your local library or museum to learn more.

Boston Public Library
The Boston Public Library has launched a series of virtual events to support emerging readers with their “Future Readers Club”. They include recurring and one-time free events for the Boston public.

Cambridge Public Library
The Cambridge Public Library has developed a COVID friendly online e-book library for children and free virtual caregiver-child story times with a variety of themes to support learning together.
