Rachel Mooers graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2022. She is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Earth & Environment. Her research interests include how technologies such as satellites, models, low-cost sensors and machine learning can be used in conjunction with one another to improve the spatial and temporal resolution of global air quality data. For her undergraduate thesis, she studied the performance of low-cost PurpleAir particulate matter sensors for measuring wildfire smoke. Rachel was also an intern in the NASA Student Airborne Research Program.
