Matthew Weil graduated from Ithaca College in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics, where he contributed on a collaborative effort to quantify methane emissions at agricultural and landfill sites across New York State. He also graduated with double minors in Computer Science and Data Science. He is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Earth and Environment. His research interests involve studying urban air quality using remote sensing and modeling. He is member of the Air Quality Remote Sensing and Modeling group at Boston University, advised by Dr. Jeff Geddes. He has interned with NASA twice, including roles as a participate in the Student Airborne Research Program (SARP) and as a Goddard Space Flight Center CISTO Advanced Science Technology Group (ASTG) intern, where he worked on porting the Moist Physics component in the GEOS AGCM Fortran code to Python for HPC on GPUs. Outside of academics, Matthew enjoys running, cycling, hiking, and exploring new places.
