Join SWE

To become a member of BU’s SWE chapter, all you need to do is come to our events/meetings and sign up for our newsletter. We welcome and accept new members throughout the semester! 

To become a part of our e-board, elections take place each March/April for the following academic year. Keep an eye on our newsletter and Instagram page to get more information about positions/applications during this time!

Seniors: During the 2022-2023 academic year, attend at least 3 events to receive a cord and at least 5 events to receive a cord OR a stole.

BU SWE also offers reimbursements up to $20 for any of the national SWE memberships. To receive your reimbursement, please email swe@bu.edu with the subject line “Membership Reimbursement,” attach to your email a PDF of your invoice, and provide in the body of the email your BUID and the address you would like to receive your check of reimbursement. Note: BU SWE is an undergraduate organization and thus reimbursements/funding are strictly for undergraduate students.  

Here’s an overview of the types of collegiate SWE memberships you can choose from: 

Collegiate Membership: An annual membership for college students in engineering and STEM.

• $20/fiscal year (July 1 – June 30) 

Collegiate to Career (C2C): This membership covers your college career and one additional year of professional membership post-graduation. 

• $50 (one time payment)

Joint Membership: If you’re also a member of the American Indian Science & Engineering Society (AISES), National Organization of Gay and Lesbian Scientists and Technical Professionals, Inc. (NOGLSTP), National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), or Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), you can purchase a joint membership. 

• Collegiate joint with SHPE cost: $24.90/fiscal year
• Collegiate joint with NSBE cost: $28.75/fiscal year
