Meet the 2022-2023 E-Board

President: Emily Sawosik

Hi! I am a senior studying Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Nanotechnology. I was born and raised in Massachusetts, and love to find new little corners of Boston even though I say I’m from here! This is my second year serving on E-board, and this organization means a lot to me, so I’m excited to help it mean a lot to others as well. When I’m not in Mugar basement, you can find me singing with my a cappella group, taking walks, or trying a new recipe.

Hi everyone! I’m Alexia and I’m a senior majoring in Biomedical Engineering from Long Island, NY. This is my fourth year in SWE and my second year on E-board, and I am so excited to see what this year brings! I joined this organization to connect with other women in engineering and become a part of this inspiring and supportive community. When I’m not studying or in SWE meetings I enjoy baking, learning about astrology, and taking long walks around Boston.

Secretary: Jenny Deng

Biomedical Engineering ’23

Email: jennyd@bu.edu

Hello all! My name is Jenny and I’m a senior studying Biomedical Engineering from Brooklyn, New York. Fascinated by prosthetics and inspired by a wonderful biology teacher (who herself was a former biomedical engineer), I choose to follow my interests in my pursuit of a biomedical engineering degree. I discovered first-hand the invaluable guidance and sisterhood from my teachers and fellow peers, and for that reason, I am grateful to join a community that will foster such a spirit. In my free time, I enjoy writing, learning to code, and watching productivity videos (though doing so is not productive!).

Treasurer: Jana Ahmed

Mechanical Engineering ’23

Email: sanahmed@bu.edu

Welcome! I’m Jana and I hail from Queens, New York. I’m a MechE ’23 major with a specialization in breaking anything (and then spending obscene amounts of time and determination on figuring out how to make things work again). SWE has been the backbone of my networking experience at BU; it’s easy to feel empowered and inspired while surrounded by the do-it-all industry women we’ve had the privilege of hosting through our events. My free time is largely spent on films, language dabbling, acoustic guitar or piano, nurturing an addiction for tea, & falling over on ice rinks.

Public Relations Chair: Patra Hsu

Biomedical Engineering ’23

Email: patra@bu.edu

Hello! My name is Patra and I am from Pittsburgh, PA. I’m currently a senior studying Biomedical Engineering and minoring in Systems Engineering. In my free time I love going out and exploring new restaurants around Boston, and you can find me longboarding down Comm Ave any day of the week! I’m definitely a plant mom so reach out if you want to talk about anything plant-related! This is my fourth year in SWE and third year on E-board and I am excited to continue to help grow BU SWE and foster more interconnections within women in engineering!

Networking Chair: Felicia Pinto

Biomedical Engineering ’23

Email: feliciap@bu.edu

Hi! My name is Felicia and I’m a senior from Huntingdon Valley, PA, right outside of Philadelphia. I am majoring in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Materials Science. When I’m not doing work I’m usually running, hanging out with my friends, cooking, or exploring Boston. This is my third year as a SWE member and my second year on E-board! I am excited to continue being a part of a group that strives to empower women in engineering, especially by making connections with the wider engineering community through networking.

Membership Chair: Eileen Duong

Mechanical Engineering ’24

Email: eduong@bu.edu

Hey there! My name is Eileen and I’m a junior studying Mechanical Engineering with concentrations in Manufacturing and Aerospace Engineering. I am from Los Angeles, California, and enjoy running, hiking, and volunteering at beaches and nature preserves. This will be my fourth year in SWE and my third year serving on the E-board. I joined SWE as a freshman to find a community and was very fortunate to have the guidance of several mentors and upperclassmen. I envision a productive year ahead and am hopeful for the events, discussions, and connections that are to be made. I look forward to working with the rest of the e-board to foster a safe and inclusive community for all of our members to develop and excel.

Underclassmen Representative: Gabrielle Bartolomei

Mechanical Engineering ’25

Hi! My name is Gabrielle and I’m from Wilbraham, MA. I’m currently a sophomore studying Mechanical Engineering. I joined SWE my freshman year and it helped me to find a like-minded group of supportive individuals and many mentors. I hope to help foster this community for others in the coming years. When I’m not studying, I enjoy being outside, doing anything sports related, watching movies with friends, and exploring the city.

Underclassmen Representative: Dani Nadira

Electrical Engineering ’24

Email: dnadira@bu.edu

Hi! My name is Dani and I’m a junior from Methuen, MA majoring in Electrical Engineering. This is my second year as a member of SWE and my first year on E-board! I have met such ambitious and inspiring women in SWE and I am so excited to help extend the mentorship and community to other members that I am so grateful to have received early on in my engineering undergrad experience. In my free time I’m usually hanging out with friends, going on random long walks, or trying to teach myself how to cook.

Underclassmen Representative: Ariella Blake

Biomedical Engineering ’25

Email: amblake@bu.edu

Hi! My name is Ariella and I’m a sophomore studying Biomedical Engineering. I’m from Yonkers, New York and I love working out, reading, and playing with my dog. This is my second year in SWE and first year on the E-board. I joined SWE because I wanted to be involved with a community of women that have similar passions and would motivate me to become a better engineer. In addition to SWE, I am also a CH101 LA this year and I play intramural soccer at BU.
