Below is the message University Provost and Chief Academic Officer Kenneth Lutchen sent to the BU Community Februay 2nd, 2024:
This spring will bring significant new developments as Boston University transitions to a more contemporary student information system experience. In March, the next and most complex phase of the new system roll-out will begin, supporting student registration for fall 2024* in the new MyBU Student system while maintaining enrollment history and spring processes in the old system. While MyBU Student has been designed to lead students through registration and supporting processes, we must be prepared this March and April to support students through the new registration process for fall 2024.
I encourage everyone to register for one of the following webinars for an overview of the new functionality and more info about the SIS Renewal Program:
- Wednesday, February 14 – 9 am
- Thursday, February 15 – 3 pm
- Tuesday, February 20 – 11 am
The webinar will include important information for faculty and staff, such as where to go for help and where to find more detailed training resources on the website when they are available. This includes PDF instructions, short video walkthroughs, demonstrations, and open Q&A forums for the following processes in February and early March:
- Navigating between the Student and Faculty Links and MyBU Student
- Viewing students’ current program plan information
- Viewing students’ schedules
- Searching for classes
- Viewing class rosters
- Requesting changes to both a student’s program plan (e.g., changing a major) and their current enrollment (e.g., dropping a class)
As the system is being brought online, we expect a short downtime window for the Student Link and Faculty Link the evening of February 29. More details will be provided as the date gets closer.
For more information on this launch and how it will affect different groups, please visit the March launch preparation page of the SIS Renewal website, where you can also use the contact form to ask the team any specific questions you have.
Changes of this size and complexity are disruptive by nature, and we are doing everything in our power to anticipate and respond to challenges quickly as they come up. The effort, we are certain, will be well worth it, and we will be excited to bring students, faculty, and staff into this new, more capable and usable environment. Thank you for your support.
*The Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, the Goldman School of Dental Medicine, and the School of Law operate on different registration schedules.
