UROP Summer 2020 Application Information

The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) is now accepting applications for Summer 2020. The application deadline is 12:00 noon on Thursday, March 5.

An information session about applying for summer UROP funding will be held on Monday, February 3, 2020 at 5:00pm in CAS B18.

Application Information

The types of funding for which you may apply include:

  • Faculty Matching Grant (FMG): funding split equally between UROP and the faculty mentor’s research funds;
  • Student Research Award (SRA): funded entirely by UROP;
  • Humanities Scholars Award: stipend and supplies for students conducting research in the Humanities (the deadline for Humanities Scholars Award application is rolling until May 1);
  • Supplies Award: awards up to $500 for research supplies, transferred directly to faculty mentor’s department;
  • Housing Support: Up to $1000 toward summer housing (limited number of supplements available for students based on financial need as determined by Boston University Office of Financial Aid).

In addition, UROP is pleased to announce the Global Challenge Research Award, an annual competition where students conduct faculty-mentored research that addresses an issue of global importance. This year’s topic is climate change. The award is available to juniors and provides funding for one summer and two consecutive academic semesters.
