Volunteering is an integral part of what we do as an organization. It helps us fulfill our mission by ensuring that we aren’t just empowering those within the SHPE, but also those outside and in our community.

Below are some volunteering events we took part of last semester!

Museum of Science

We participated in Boston’s Museum of Science volunteering event in honor of Women’s History Month. The event aimed to expose and teach kids the wonders of science and engineering while having a fun day at the museum!

Swipes for Boston

Swipes for Boston is a project started by a BU students aimed to help feed the homeless in the Boston area. We were able to join them and other campus organizations and give out our “Rhetty-to-Go” meals to the homeless in the Kenmore/Back Bay area.

Greater Boston Food Bank

BU-SHPE spent their morning at the Greater Boston Food Bank! We sorted 16,000 pounds of food within three hours and were able to get a private tour of the facilities. The GBFB has their own solar panel on their roof to aide in accomplishing their goal which is to have the Greater Boston Area to be hunger free by 2028!
