Splash 2022: Our members at the 2022 BU Splash, recruiting incoming Engineering students looking to become part of our SHPE chapter.

First 2022 SHPE Meeting: This was the first event of the semester where the SHPE-BostonU E-board introduced the SHPE mission to the general body members and gave a presentation of events that would be held in the upcoming semester, including the National Convention, so that the membership knew what SHPE-BostonU had in store for them this year. In addition, general body members played a few icebreakers, such as “Jumbo Jenga” and card games, to get to know each other better.

Resume Review with GE: We hosted a resume workshop for our members featuring 3 employees from General Electric. La familia had the opportunity to receive feedback on their individual resumes from our guests. We provided snacks and light refreshments for our everyone in attendance.

National Convention 2022: Some of our members attended the SHPE National Convention at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. This is the country’s largest gathering of Hispanic STEM students and professionals, where they obtain opportunities to advance their professional careers through workshops and a 2-day career fair.

Mechanical Workshop with EPIC :  Our members had the opportunity to receive a tour of the EPIC facility and learn about the different tools it has to offer. We also had the opportunity to get hands on training with the different laser cutting devices and created a SHPE logo with the skills we learned.

SHPE + NSBE Networking @ Night: This event was in collaboration with the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). This event provided our members the opportunity to network with companies such as Moderna and P&G. Many companies in attendance were looking to also hire for internships and Full time positions.
