The Simulation Modeling for Population Health (SMPH) group began Summer 2021 as a Focused Research Program led by Brenda Heaton and Wesley Wildman within the Rafik B. Hariri Institute for Computing and Computational Science & Engineering. Its primary goal was to create a multidisciplinary community of faculty and students interested in applying simulation modeling to public health research. Through reading groups and workshops, SMPH is a space to increase knowledge of simulation modeling, its methods, and applications across projects and disciplines. Some of the topics we’ve begun approaching include modeling complex human behaviors and behavioral processes; modeling system dynamics, spatial context, and the impact of interventions on population health; and using simulation modeling and systems science as tools for causal inference. You are invited to explore the website and learn more about the reading group, modeling workshops, previous sessions, and an array of upcoming modeling events.
