Wicked Local reported what made Concord resident and Boston University student Wiley’s trip to Kenya so great. Wiley focused her time in Kenya researching and reporting on malaria rates in pregnant women. In Wiley’s story, she covered the severity of maternal malaria, how to prevent malaria in pregnancy, challenges of being a mission hospital, the role of research in foreign aid assistance and how foreign aid affects the community. Wiley stated the authentic bonds, friendships she formed and the lessons learned while she was in Kenya made the project so memorable and meaningful.
