Submission Guidelines
The Pardee Atlas is always accepting submissions for our online publication. We aim to further the Pardee School motto of “Advancing Human Progress” by selecting and editing quality submissions that promote interesting conversations on international affairs and showcase the breadth of Pardee student expertise. All submissions are subject to approval—submission does not guarantee publication. The specific guidelines for different types of submissions may be found below, and you can read about our editorial standards here.
Submit your work here.
All written submissions must be:
- Original pieces written by YOU.
- Pieces found to have been written in any significant capacity by generative AI will be rejected. Supportive use of AI should be properly cited.
- Edited and fact-checked before submission.
- We strongly suggest you run your work through a basic grammar and style checker.
- Not previously published.
- Related to Global Affairs.
- 12-point font, Times New Roman, Double-spaced.
Research Paper
Research papers should analyze current or historical global challenges in a way that provides actionable insight on the topic. Topics may include, but are not limited to, human rights, global economics, international politics, international security, international development, religion, and environmental governance. You should devise a clear argument and provide a compelling analysis.
Submissions should be:
- 2500-4000 words
- Properly cited in Chicago Manual of Style 17th Edition Notes-Bibliography format.
- include an abstract summarizing the key points of your paper
Policy Paper
Policy papers should analyze and address contemporary policy issues related to global affairs. They should define a global policy solution, clearly discussing (a) why the problem is important, (b) who should do what about it and how, and (c) why the proposed policy is better than other alternatives.
Submissions should:
- Be 2500-4000 words.
- Properly cited in Chicago Manual of Style 17th Edition Notes-Bibliography format.

Opinions/Op-Eds
Op-Ed pieces should be clear, concise, and informed opinions about current topics or events related to global affairs.
Submissions should:
- Be 650-1200 words.
- Contain active links to sources embedded within the Op-Ed.
- Include a Works Cited/Bibliography for the Editorial Board to review.
Student Interest Pieces
We invite graduate students to submit short pieces focusing on issues or topics they are passionate about. These can include personalizing and humanizing news stories, sharing their thoughts on global issues happening today, and touching, inspiring, or motivating others.
We want to hear your voice and see global issues from your point of view! Interest pieces should be clear, concise, and informed opinions about current topics or events related to global affairs.
Submissions should:
- Be 150 – 300 words.
- Contain active links to sources embedded within the interest piece.
- Include a Works Cited/Bibliography for the Editorial Board to review.
Photo Submissions
Photos tell stories, give us glimpses of others’ lives, and show us parts of the world we have never seen before. From monuments to culinary arts, share photos you have taken worldwide.
Photo Submission Guidelines:
- Must be original photographs taken by you
- Quality photographs in RAW, PNG, or JPEG file formats
- Provide background information on your photo, including the location and any necessary context.
- Please, no faces!
- Maximum submission is 3 photographs
- Open to all alumni and current graduate students of the Pardee School of Global Studies
