The BU LGBTQIA+ Faculty & Staff Community Network
Founded in January 2020 through the BU Diversity & Inclusion, we seek to promote a deeper sense of community and celebrate identity among LGBTQIA+ faculty and staff across Boston University.
We consider ourselves an affinity network for LGBTQIA+ identified faculty and staff across the university, although we do not require anyone to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity to join or participate.
Our membership is over 200 faculty and staff members strong. We also pride ourselves on our strong collaboration with the Queer Activist Collective, an undergraduate student organization.
- Mental Health Initiative – focused on evaluating, identifying, and addressing mental health support and resources for faculty and staff
- Trans and Non-Binary Inclusion and Advocacy – focused on bringing together passionate members of the broader network to provide events, resources, and support to our current (and future) non-binary and transgender members
- BU Pride – focused on advocacy, education, and building community within BU as we plan a cohesive series of programs celebrating Pride Month in June
- Visibility – focused on maintaining and growing the BU Out List and other initiatives to create visibility, connectedness, and sharing of resources among LGBTQIA+ faculty, staff, and students.
