This study, whose components emerge from the field of narrative medicine, provided greater access to knowledge about the impact that narratives have on care experiences for both patient and provider. Subjective understandings of illness through narration may serve to address the health care gap for URM pregnant women. Results from this preliminary pilot study may lead to opportunities for further research in the area of narrative medicine. Significant findings may contribute to improved care experiences for both patients and providers at BMC.
