Research Program Coordinator
Marco (he/him) was born and raised in México and is a biomedical engineer by training with a master’s degree in health administration. Early in his career, he worked in the Mexican healthcare system in several roles. He started on the practical side, installing and servicing medical equipment, and later led the biomedical engineering department at the primary referral hospital in the state of Morelos, México. He then transitioned into health systems and health resource planning, coordinating biomedical engineering operations and initiatives across the state's hospital network. Afterward, Marco joined Mexico’s federal health technology agency as Head of the Auxiliary Diagnostic Devices Department, where his team conducted health technology assessments and issued coverage recommendations within the national healthcare system.
In October 2023, he moved to the United States and began volunteering in the BUSPH Department of Epidemiology before transitioning to a full-time role as a Research Project Coordinator for the SPHERE Lab with Dr. Marcia Pescador-Jimenez. In this role, he primarily supported two research projects exploring the relationship between the exposome and its impact on cognitive and overall health across five cohorts in the US.
Marco admits he is terrible at matching pitch, which makes him an awful singer + he always messes up the lyrics. Nonetheless, he loves singing.
