Graduate Research Fellow
Louis (they/he) is a PhD student in Community Health Sciences at the Boston University School of Public Health (BUSPH) and a Graduate Research Fellow with the Healthy and Empowered Youth (HEY!) Lab at BUSPH. They are invested in understanding the relationship between trauma experienced in a heterosexist and cissexist society and the mental and sexual wellbeing of transgender and gender expansive adolescents and adults on an individual, interpersonal, and intracommunity level through mixed methods research. Lou received his MPH from the University of Pennsylvania in 2025 where he conducted work focused on sexual health equity for transgender older adults. He also has experience collaborating in the HIV criminalization policy space, centering the experiences of incarcerated Black LGBTQIA+ individuals and advocating for prison abolition. Lou is committed to working alongside BIPOC transgender community to build a future where the lives and wellbeing of their trans siblings are cherished and protected. Outside of his work in academia, Lou spends time volunteering with mutual aid groups to support trans caregiving and drug harm reduction street outreach, and he greatly enjoys crocheting, linocutting, and collaging while spending time with his dog and two cats.
