Head of the Charles Regatta (All Day)
Cheer on the rowers as they compete in the 60th Head of the Charles Regatta. Location: Access the Esplanade along the Charles River via overpasses which are located: behind Marsh Plaza, 735 Commonwealth Avenue, and behind Wheelock College and the Questrom School of Business at the very end of Silber Way. No registration required.
Study Abroad Open House (10am–12pm)
Join us at BU Study Abroad’s Open House. This is a drop in casual event where you can learn about the wide range of study abroad offerings available to students. There will be the opportunity to talk to alumni about their experiences abroad, as well as BU Study Abroad staff who will be available to answer questions about the application process, financial aid and any other questions you might have. Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) Symposium (10am–2pm)
Join more than 200 undergraduate students as they present their summer research projects in an interactive poster session. Tour Boston’s Largest Fossil Fuel Free Building (3–4pm)
Join BU Sustainability on a behind-the-scenes tour of the Duan Family Center for Computing & Data Sciences (CCDS). At 19 stories, this LEED Platinum and award-winning building is the largest fossil-fuel-free building in Boston, relying on deep wells to harness the thermal capacity of the earth for heating and cooling and eliminate the need to connect the building to a gas line. You’ve heard all about their new life at BU, now it’s time to experience it for yourself! Join your student for a delicious meal at their favorite dining hall! It’s a great way for your Terrier to show you their home away from home. Your student can use a guest pass from their dining plan, or you can purchase a meal with a credit card or cash at the door. Lisa Rohrer, Professor of the Practice, Management & Organizations: Artificial intelligence is transforming work at a pace few could have imagined. Tom Whalen, Associate Professor for Social Sciences at CGS, celebrates the 50th anniversary of Red October with an in-depth look at how the Gold Dust Twins, Loo-ie, Pudge, and Spaceman led the Red Sox to the 1975 World Series and saved baseball. BU Choral Showcase – Dreams, Passions, & Words of Fire (3pm)
Featuring Monteverdi & Schütz’s deeply impassioned madrigals and motets, the fervent texts from Morten Lauridsen’s Six Fire Madrigals, and Eric Whitacre’s imaginative Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine, the program showcases the power of poetry, passion, and dreams through an afternoon of choral music.
