What is the Head of the Charles Regatta (HOCR)? 

The Regatta is the largest 3-day rowing race in the world, taking place on the Charles River in October each year. The HOCR is one of the most important events of the year for all three of BU’s rowing teams. Visit the official Head of the Charles Regatta website for more details. 

Where can I watch the Head of the Charles Regatta?

The Regatta is easily accessible from campus by the Esplanade. (Please note that you are not able to access the BU Boathouse to watch the Regatta.) You may access the Esplanade via overpasses which are located:

    • Behind Marsh Plaza 
    • Behind Wheelock College and the Questrom School of Business at the very end of Silber Way 

Do you need tickets to attend the Head of the Charles Regatta?

No, simply cross to the Esplanade and enjoy! 

Will there be complimentary parking on campus during Family & Friends Weekend?    

Yes, complimentary on-campus parking passes will be available on the Family and Friends Weekend website. You may use a paper pass or you may use the QR code on the website via your phone or tablet. 

May I eat in a BU Dining Hall with my student?

Yes, you are welcome to join your student in any of our dining halls. Your student may utilize guests passes for your meals.

May I visit my student’s dormitory or on-campus apartment?

Yes, you are welcome to visit your student’s dormitory to see their dorm rooms. Please see our guest policy for more information.

May I attend BU classes with my student?

Faculty members do not allow parents to attend classes with their students.

Where can I get information during Family & Friends Weekend? 

Stop by the Family & Friends Weekend Lounge hosted by the Dean of Students in The Link area of the George Sherman Union, 775 Commonwealth Avenue, to learn more about the weekend Please see the schedule for specific hours. Do family & friends need to register in advance for events? 

Yes, please register for all events requiring registration. However, there are several events/programs that do not require registration. This information is noted on the schedule of events. 

Do students need to register as well?

Yes, please note that registration is required to attend all Family & Friends Weekend events and programs unless specified otherwise on the schedule of events

I have tickets to an event that I am no longer able to attend. How do I cancel individual tickets?

Please contact parents@bu.edu to have your individual tickets canceled. You may cancel your entire order of tickets via Eventbrite.
