CIIS Leadership Updates
We are pleased to announce that Drs. Kirsten Austad and Nick Bosch will transition from Associate Directors to Co-Directors of The Evans Center for Implementation and Improvement Science (CIIS), effective October 1, 2024. Dr. Kathryn Fantasia will serve in the new role of Education Director and current Research Specialist Kayla Jones will transition to Assistant Director. Dr. Mari-Lynn Drainoni, who has been a founding Director of CIIS for nine years, will assume the new CIIS role of Research Director, allowing her to mentor the growing number of early career faculty in CIIS.
The Department of Medicine would like to thank Dr. Drainoni for her mentorship, vision, and exceptional research productivity. As the inaugural Director of CIIS, Dr. Drainoni has been instrumental in the expansion of CIIS from a small three-member team to a nationally recognized center focused on implementation science in safety net settings. During her tenure as Director, she has served as an outstanding mentor , including nine CIIS fellows with a 100% success rate thus far in receipt of NIH K- or similar career development awards. Drainoni has participated in or overseen the publication of over 150 CIIS original research manuscripts on including seminal research on topics ranging from antibiotic stewardship to naloxone distribution in the safety net setting. Thank you Dr. Drainoni for your outstanding contributions and for mentoring a new leadership team to expand CIIS’s mission.
