IRB Protocols and Grant Writing

For your manuscripts, conference presentations (talks and posters), invited lectures, etc., please cite the NERVE in the acknowledgements section:

“This material is the result of work supported with resources and the use of facilities at the Neuroimaging Research for Veterans Center, VA Boston Healthcare System.”

• VA Forms
  • Facility & Service Impact forms: Pharmacy (EPT tests), Psychiatry (after-hours number for participants to call for any concerns: need signature from Gary Kaplan–give form to Neysa Wright to collect signature–7th floor admin), and Imaging Center (David Salat).
  • Email Dr. Scott Hayes (smhayes@bu.edu) for a sample IRB forms required for an MRI project with healthy young and older adults, except the imaging facility impact form (which was not required at the time the protocol was approved). Note: some of these forms have recently changed; download latest forms from VA’s IRB website.
• BUSM
  • Letter from Dean Ellmore giving approval to test BU students. You can request approval by emailing the BU Dean of Students office: dos@bu.edu; It took a couple emails and phone calls to get this moving.
  • INSPIR: Biological samples (EPT test), IRB template for IBC samples form (describe EPT test), Special Committees: Biosafety (EPT test), Request to use VA consent & HIPAA forms (do this to avoid having Ss sign a set of VA forms AND a set of BU forms); include recruitment materials for BU Quickie jobs; shayes will post docs when final BUSM IRB approval is received.
