Arslan Riaz

Background and Research Interests
Dr. Arslan Riaz is currently a Research Scientist in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Boston University since May 2025. His research focuses on the development of energy-efficient and secure wireless communication systems. He has been a member of the Wireless Integrated Systems and Extreme Circuits (WISE) Lab since 2019.
From May 2024 to April 2025, he worked as a Postdoctoral Associate in the ECE Department at Boston University under the supervision of Dr. Rabia Tugce Yazicigil. Prior to that, he served as a Research Associate in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) from 2018 to 2019, where his work focused on RF energy harvesting for IoT applications.
Education:
Arslan received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Boston University in 2024, under the supervision of Dr. Rabia Yazicigil, with co-advisors Prof. Muriel Médard (MIT) and Prof. Ken Duffy (Northeastern University). His Ph.D. research focused on the efficient custom hardware implementation of Guessing Random Additive Noise Decoding (GRAND).
He earned his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad, in 2018.
