Joshua McGee
Joshua is a 4th year PhD Student in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Since joining the Wong Lab in 2022, Josh research in the group has spearheaded the development and application of self-amplifying RNA (saRNA) for a variety of therapeutic and genetic engineering modalities, from vaccines to anti-cancer treatments and beyond (McGee, Kirsch et al. Nature Biotech 2024). Josh is the recipient of several awards, including the prestigious NSF Graduate Research Fellowship, as well as Boston University’s Translational Research in Biomaterials Fellowship. Josh has also taken the findings from his research in the lab to begin his own startup company, Keylicon Biosciences, which hopes to translate the innovative findings of his research into more effective RNA therapies for patients. When he isn’t working hard in the lab, Josh is a devoted family-man spending time with his wife and family, and is an avid fan of Boston sports. He also can bake a mean chocolate chip cookie.
