Website accessibility is a marathon, not a sprint.
Boston University has a long-standing commitment to high standards for website accessibility. For over 25 years (Internet Archive link) the University has provided tools and training that incorporate website accessibility best practices. In 2018, we further codified this commitment by publishing Minimum Web Accessibility Standards.
Maintaining accessible website content is not only BU policy; it is the law. State and federal guidelines require websites, course materials and other digital content to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines.
Join this effort. As a web editor, you don’t need to train for a sprint or marathon. Publishing accessible web content is a matter of learning a handful of simple best practices and a commitment to implement those best practices consistently when you are editing and publishing web content.
