Ting Wei Li
Communications Coordinator
Ting Wei Li is currently the Communications Manager and Administrator at the Boston University Initiative on Cities (IOC). In this role, he works on the IOC’s branding, messaging, and design strategies, and on outreach; he also manages events and supervises student staff.
Prior to joining the IOC, Ting was a graduate of Boston University’s College of Arts & Sciences, magna cum laude, majoring in Political Science and History. Born in China, raised in Boston, and an alumnus of the Boston Public School system, he loves the city’s unique and rich history, which he has continually called home. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Chinatown Main Street, a Boston quasi-governmental nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and promoting Boston Chinatown’s commercial and residential interests. Previously, he was a lead staffer at Chinatown Main Street, overhauling the organization’s website, managing student interns, and expanding outreach—on social media and on the ground—to residents and visitors alike. He was also a communications intern under MA State Senator Jamie Eldridge. While an undergraduate student at BU, he served two terms as Director of Communications in Student Government, Editor-in-Chief of the Pre-Law Review, Inaugural Digital Director of the International Relations Review, and a Research Assistant with BU Votes when it first began.
Ting likes reading the latest news headlines, scientific periodicals, and manga in his free time. He also enjoys photography, working out, playing video games, collecting vinyl records, reading, layout designing, and spending time with his Ragdoll cat, Mimi, and his British Longhair, Momo. He can speak Taishanese, Cantonese, Mandarin, and a bit of Japanese; additionally, he studied Latin for six years.
