Briette Brightman

Vice President

My name is Briette. I’m originally from the Seacoast Region of New Hampshire (live free or die!). Growing up, my family moved quite a few times around the country. With every move, I learned more about what made for a strong community and came to realize that I loved Boston and wanted to return to the East Coast. After graduating from the University of Denver with a degree in International Studies, I applied to BU’s Master’s in City Planning and moved back home to begin my degree. At the same time, I began an internship with the MBTA, which changed the course of my career aspirations. I realized that public transportation is truly the backbone of an equitable and functioning city. I began to learn more about the field and decided to stay in the public sector, specifically in transportation, working to ensure that our services are safe, reliable, and accessible to people across the Commonwealth.

As Vice President of the BU Urban Planning Association, I hope to inspire others to get involved in their communities, learn more about city planning, and maintain our strong network of BU students and alumni across Boston.
