I’ve led my life as an openly gay, professional male and clinical psychologist for some forty years. The early years were a bit of a struggle in the professional arena, but I’ve experienced nothing but support from my colleagues here at Boston University where I’ve worked for the past twenty-five years. My career is marked by a commitment to research, education, clinical supervision and administration; this combination suited my interests and skill set and represents what I believe is the epitome of working in an academic setting. I married my long time partner (Douglas Hughes, MD, Professor Emeritus at BUSM) on the first day possible in the United States (May 17, 2004) though we’ve been happily sharing our lives and careers for thirty six years. I’d be happy to connect surrounding career directions and life in academic healthcare.
