Sarah Miller is an ethnographer whose research focuses on the sociology of gender, sexuality, education, youth and new media. Her current book project, The Tolerance Generation: How Teens Navigate Bullying in the Digital Age, explores how youth grapple with bullying and the pressures of digital culture in the anti-bullying era. Her work has been published in Gender & Society, Sexualities, and the Journal of Youth and Adolescence and funded by the National Academy of Education/Spencer Foundation, National Science Foundation, and the American Sociological Association. As a public sociologist, she has worked on a variety of initiatives focused on advancing adolescent health and sexuality education policy in collaboration with the Center for Research & Education on Gender and Sexuality (formerly the NSRC), Futures of Sex Education, and Advocates for Youth. At BU, Sarah teaches courses on gender, sexuality, race, criminology, and feminist and queer methods.
