Olivia has been an out and visible trans woman since 2019, but she’s been a part of the CAS academic administration since 2013. She came out to Boston to attend BU in 2007 to study theoretical and applied mathematics, but was drawn towards qualitative sociology with a focus on the sociology of religion and queer theory, which she ultimately majored in. Since graduating in 2011 she has become a self taught web developer and designer, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in computer science with a focus on data analytics and data science. In her free time away from WGS and classwork, Olivia volunteers to provide data insights with statistical robustness to performing arts-focused DEI initiatives in the Boston area and beyond, mostly focused on racial equity on and off the stage. She’s always delighted to meet new trans people, and is proud to have helped mentor trans students over the last two years, and hopes to continue doing so for the foreseeable future.
