Lawrence is a health economist and public health policy researcher. He is a Research Assistant Professor at the Boston University School of Public Health and holds a joint appointment at the University of Witwatersrand (Johannesburg, South Africa). Lawrence has more than 14 years of experience conducting applied research on the economic impact of HIV, tuberculosis and associated conditions within sub-Saharan Africa. He is passionate about using behavioral science to improve the delivery of care and treatment, in particular to marginalized populations. One of his current projects uses behavioral economic methods to try and improve the uptake of and persistence on pre expose prophylaxis amongst men who have sex with men in South Africa.
