Hello! I’m Gretchen, a queer southerner from North Carolina who has fallen in love with the Northeast. I came to Boston to study for my Master of Divinity at the School of Theology and decided to go for a second degree as well at the School of Social Work while here. The experience was so transformative for me, I chose to stay once I had the privilege and opportunity to work in Admissions at the School of Theology. In that office I hope to help students find a place where they can grow deeper in their understanding of theology and their vocation, while feeling affirmed and encouraged to embrace the fullness of all their identities. In a field that has and continues to so easily harm people, I believe that queer people bring a new lens to understanding the Divine and what makes this world fully beautiful. I look forward to connecting with others and welcome you to reach out!
I was not a first-gen undergraduate student, but was a first-gen graduate student. I know the experience of having to navigate an advanced degree fully on one’s own.
