Dr. Jacobson López is a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work. Dr. Lopez is also Visiting Faculty at Yale University, School of Public Health. He is also a BU STARS Fellow and faculty affiliate at the Center for Anti-Racist Research. His research examines how socio-political systems engage with gay Latino and/or Black sexual assault survivors and the health services provided to them. He also researches the effects of COVID-19 on people living with HIV/AIDS and most recently, reducing stigma against Ghanaian MSM.
He was the first ever Latinx PhD graduate at the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work. He is a former intern with the United Nations Development Programme. In addition to his scholarship and research, Jacobson López is a certified sexual assault counselor, a licensed certified social worker, certified ART therapist , and an anti-bias facilitator with the Anti-Defamation League.
