Dave Sullivan grew up in the Boston area, and he was a physics major in college. He taught physics and math at the secondary-school level for six years before returning to graduate school for master’s and doctoral degrees in computer science.
Dr. Sullivan has taught in the computer science department in CAS since the fall of 2006, and he was promoted to the rank of senior lecturer in 2013 and master lecturer in 2018. He teaches a variety of courses (CS 105, CS 111, CS 112, and CS 460), and he launched and continues to coordinate the department’s undergraduate course-assistant program, in which experienced undergrads offer one-on-one assistance to students in introductory courses. Dr. Sullivan received the Neu Family Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2012 and the Metcalf Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2021. He lives in the Boston area with his partner and son.
