Dr. Allegra Gordon (She/Her/Hers)
Assistant Professor, School of Public Health
- Gender Identity: cisgender woman
- Sexual Orientation: Queer, Lesbian
I am a public health researcher and I have worked in the field of LGBTQ health for over 15 years. As a social epidemiologist, I use quantitative and qualitative research methods to understand the mental and physical health impacts of discrimination, particularly gender-related stereotypes and stigma, on the health of young people across sexual orientations and gender identities. My current projects focus on: the relationship between gender expression and health behaviors among U.S. adolescents; the best ways to measure sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression in survey research; and community-engaged work to address weight stigma and advance eating disorders prevention for transgender and nonbinary young people.
