Protecting Reproductive Rights: What Can Public Health Do?

After the news of the leaked SCOTUS draft of a decision to overturn Roe vs. Wade, Boston University School of Public Health Dean Sando Galea wrote this article stating that access to safe, legal abortion falls under the human right to health, and restricting reproductive freedom is a public health issue. He writes:

“Restricting access to abortion is a quintessential regressive act that harms the health of populations overall, but also widens health gaps through harming the health of those who need health protection the most.”

Furthermore, BUSPH will be hosting a  Public Health Conversation titled “Roe in the Balance: The Future of Reproductive Justice in the United States,” happening on June 9 from 1-2:30 PM. Register for the webinar here.
