Ovya’s goal in this project was to transform the care delivery model for patients with viral hepatitis, sexually transmitted infections, and HIV by better designing services around their unique needs and experiences. Because of stigma, cost, and access issues, these patients are not well served by traditional care models. The new care model will be developed based on principles of trauma informed care, harm reduction, and co-production of care. The new model may include developing a low-barrier, virtual clinic for “walk-in” telehealth service, increasing utilization of mail-in laboratory testing, and/or having people in non-traditional roles coordinate care in local communities (such as outreach workers or pharmacists).
